    Description

    An extremely rare celadon porcelain vase that was black lacquered and inlaid with
    stunning
    Mother Of Pearl designs.
    It appears that the celadon vase was made much earlier than the lacquer overlay.
    The vase was
    broken into
    many small pieces at the top section from the lip to the shoulder
    area and repaired.
    The lacquer was applied
    to keep
    it tightly together. The vase
    is probably
    a Korean Koryo Period
    celadon vase or a Chinese Song
    Dynasty
    celadon vase. The Black
    lacquer
    was probably
    applied in the 18th or 19th century Joseon Period.
    It measures 10.5" tall.
    The porcelain has old firing cracks, pin holes, and kiln flaws...see pictures of the inside.
    There are small losses to the lacquer and MOP.
    It is marked on the bottom in gold paint. The only word we could read was the word KOREAN.
